What I thought Genre meant?

Before this class, I thought genre was only associated for music (pop, rock, metal), movies (action, thriller, horror), and books (fantasy, fiction, nonfiction) and games (cozy, indie) I figured it was just a category to describe for only those things and never thought more.

Now, my definition of genre really expanded from that. Genre can be a lot of things that include text in different sort of ways of activity like social media for example. The audience when seeing a genre would expect a certain thing. Like if they were to watch a horror movie, they expect to be scared not to laugh. I can not think of a genre personal to me, but in my daily life I own/make my own bookmarks for each book that I own. I am not the best with art, but i like to doodle about the book I am reading, or put something that only relates to that book. Genre though is around everyone everyday, with the signs on the road, the shows we watch, and even a presentation for class.
